Background

Day Lewis Pharmacy is one of the largest independent pharmacy retailer chains in the UK and Europe, employing over 2,500 employees across their 260 sites.

Day Lewis remains a family-owned entity and their pharmacies can be found in local communities, as well as high streets and health centres.

Throughout Day Lewis’ dynamic history in community pharmacy and the business arena, the business has advanced from being a traditional retail pharmacy business, dispensing medication and offering retail products, into a patient-orientated service provider.

What were the requirements?

Prior to working with Access People, Day Lewis relied on a legacy HR and payroll system and numerous discrete solutions and workarounds.

Day Lewis sought to bring their functions together with a single integrated solution, which would bi-directionally integrate to the Locum Management System – an IT recruitment platform which manages the booking process of temporary colleagues.

Additionally, the HR team required better visibility of shift patterns across all of Day Lewis’ sites to help improve the resourcing of key employees in their pharmacies.

This would aid the improvement of operational workforce management in a more cost-effective manner, as rostering with temporary colleagues is more costly to the business.

Day Lewis is looking to implement Access Learning which will deliver improved compliance, better employee development, and health and safety training. The LMS is a fully integrated module within PeopleXD, providing employees with one place to go, speeding up both user adoption and engagement.

We are delighted to be on board and look forward to working with Access People. There has been a great reaction from the team since seeing the mobile app for the first time, as it looks like an amazing product that will make lives significantly easier.

The investigation and selection

The key driver for this project was to optimise Day Lewis’ roster management process with the aim of reducing operational costs and service provision across the business. Access People will help Day Lewis Pharmacy achieve this by enabling them to better manage their rosters within PeopleXD.

By integrating PeopleXD and the Locum Management System, Day Lewis will be provided with an accurate master HR record where they can see all permanent and temporary colleagues in one place. This will allow the operations team to fill any uncovered shifts quicker and more cost effectively, whilst ensuring the necessary compliance.

This investment will ensure that all employees at Day Lewis Pharmacy will have access to a modern, easy-to-use system, which is accessible anywhere at anytime through their mobile device.

Employees will also be able to carry out their day-to-day administrative tasks, such as booking annual leave and updating their personal information.

PeopleXD will support Day Lewis with developing their talent management, reducing administration tasks such as the processing of expenses and an overall boost to employee engagement, through employee and manager self-service. Access People will also be providing payroll outsourcing services for a key payroll as this has provided a more cost-effective option for the business.

Day Lewis Pharmacy went live in mid-2022.

We can’t wait to start using Access PeopleXD, it looks great and it’s handy that everything is in one place.
