Turn on the Subtitles and help the learning stick!
Here at Access Education, we’re partnering with Turn on the Subtitles (TOTS), a wonderfully simple, global initiative that encourages children to… you guessed it, turn on the subtitles!
Endorsed by influential figures like Jack Black, Stephen Fry, Lenny Henry, and Sandy Toksvig, TOTS research shows that young people generally do read captions when they’re available and that the mere presence of the words at the bottom of the screen will encourage them to read, for recognition, content comprehension and code-related literacy skills.
