Fire safety online training FAQs
Why is fire safety education and training important?
Fire safety education and training is important to keep everyone safe and to protect your business. It will teach people how to act in an emergency, as well as how to prevent a fire starting in the first place, reducing the risk of injury and loss of life.
How often is online fire safety training required?
Fire safety training is required every 12 months to refresh employees’ knowledge. New employees should receive fire safety training as soon as they begin employment within an organisation. In some situations (such as an incident occurring), refresher training should be delivered more often.
Is fire safety training a legal requirement?
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, you are required to provide adequate fire safety training as an employer. “Adequate” varies by business but generally includes fire awareness, refresher training, meeting fire safety duties and training in specific skills like fire risk assessment.
Is fire safety training optional or mandatory for all employees?
In most circumstances, it is a legal requirement for employers to provide fire safety training for employees. Even if you just have one employee or volunteer, fire safety training is still your responsibility as an employer and you need to provide adequate training.
