Background

Linde Material Handling is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of forklift trucks and warehouse equipment and has been setting standards for solutions for industrial trucks, fleet management, driver assistance systems and service offerings for more than 50 years.

Linde is represented in more than 100 countries worldwide with its own branches. The company's international network includes production and assembly plants in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, the USA and China as well as more than 700 sales and service locations.

What was the challenge?

Before the implementation of Access Health & Safety, Linde delivered their health and safety training via classroom and PowerPoint presentations.

Over 900 of Linde’s UK workforce are field based and their regional workshops carry out major equipment refurbishment and it is essential that their workshop staff are well trained and follow procedures when working with any hazardous substances.

The results

By using Access Health & Safety, Linde have been able to dramatically reduce their non-productive time and deliver regular health and safety training in bite-sized chunks.

Linde can now provide this training in more frequent but shorter sessions, which has in turn increased the health and safety focus in the business. The visibility and dynamics ensure that Linde can quickly identify any of their team who have been identified as “High Risk” and resolve any issues without delay.

Linde Material Handling’s Safety Passport curriculum consists of twelve eLearning modules, with training module delivered every quarter. In addition, Linde’s office-based staff benefit from a straightforward and relevant selection of health and safety training that is tailored to their specific needs.

Linde’s field-based service team work in a diverse range of customer activities and it is critical that their employees are equipped with the training and knowledge they need to maintain their own personal safety and that of any others who could be affected by business activities whilst on site.

The COSHH course in particular, is a pragmatic yet easy to understand subject and has been very well received by the 388 users who have undertaken it. The “Self-Test” element of the course helps Linde to address any issues identified during the training.

The visibility, reporting, accessibility, flexibility and user friendliness of the system are the features which stand out most to Linde. It is features such as these which has made Access Health & Safety an integral part of their training plan.

We would 100% recommend Access Health & Safety as the dynamic feedback mechanism as it provides the information and visibility that we need in a decentralised business. For example, we know at a glance that we have visibility of completed training, outstanding training, risk ratings, and pass scores, etc.
