Seamless transition from an on-premise to a cloud-based solution

Having been a client of EasyBuild for eight years, when OJ Construction, based in Namibia, Africa wanted to move its construction financial and project accounting software from an on-premise solution to the cloud, Director of OJ Construction, Andre Oosthuizen had no hesitation in asking the team at EasyBuild to undertake the transition.

 


Until OJ Construction began working with EasyBuild in 2012 it had been operating a spreadsheet-based finance system which was both time consuming and difficult to manage. As the company grew, client retention and the management and retention of numerous sub- contractors was the main concern and so they looked for a solution that would streamline the process. They chose the award-winning EasyBuild ERP software as an all-in-one solution because it is designed for the construction sector, with an easy-to-use, intuitive interface.

Once OJ Construction had made the decision to move to EasyBuild’s cloud-based system the process was seamless. “The EasyBuild team informed us of the process, they set up our virtual workstations in the cloud and told us to log out at a specific time and the following morning, when we logged back in, it was all done. What can be simpler than that?” says Andre.

 

Despite the fact that the businesses are based on two different continents, Easybuild consultants have worked very closely with
OJ Construction since the partnership began. Prior to the transition to the cloud, an EasyBuild consultant spent a week in Namibia, scoping out the work required.

 

“EasyBuild sent out a very competent consultant for a week to prepare, but there wasn’t as much preparing as we thought because the process was so simple!” says André. “He was very knowledgeable both in terms of programming the software, as well as accounting, which was a big help.”

 

If something is urgent, whether it be a weekend or public holiday, they will make sure it’s sorted,” concludes Andre. EasyBuild has always been there for us and I cannot fault the quality of the service.

With projects across the country and a mobile team constantly on the move, one of the main reasons OJ Construction wanted to transition to EasyBuild Cloud was to enable its team to work on the system, uninterrupted, no matter where or when.

And, the automatic updates ensure the team is always using the latest version of the software.

The ability to have all the data at your fingertips and drill down into project costs also means problems can be identified before they happen.

 

A modular approach to fit changing requirements

With EasyBuild Cloud up and running, OJ Construction are now planning to implement more of the functionality of the mobile system, EasyBuild Mobile. Automating the on-site goods received process, as well as streamlining the requisition process, will speed up procurement as well as saving a huge amount of time and money. And, as the economic climate shifts, meaning less emphasis on large-scale projects, the Service and Maintenance module is likely to be next.
