KS3 Science chunks the learning into short sharp 20 minute learning opportunities, with links back to prior learning to help embed the core principles of the substantive knowledge. Each lesson forms part of a sequence, including links to Working Scientifically, mathematics and literacy. Students will be introduced to new scientists and links to real life. Every September a new class of year 7 students eagerly arrive at your door, and while you sometimes have the KS2 results for each child, it can be difficult to know exactly what the student can do now. These papers aim to provide you with a clear indication of what the students can still achieve after the summer and to help ease the students into their new year of learning. There are three papers, resembling the KS2 SAT papers, but are multiple choice to allow for instant feedback and marking. There are shadow papers to accompany them for you to use either as revision material or to retest later on in the year. The students will receive their results at the end of the assessment, allowing them to go back and look at their answers and you will receive a report showing the marks, as well as individual, class and year reports to assist you in gauging their current understanding and to identify weaknesses.
