Small Screen Science is a podcast series dedicated to making complex scientific topics engaging and understandable. Hosted by expert educators and science enthusiasts, the podcast dives into the latest discoveries, intriguing experiments, and real-life applications of science in everyday life. In each episode or live show, Karen and Emma explore the fascinating science behind some of our favourite TV shows; from dissecting the forensic pathology of Silent Witness or the psychology of psychopaths in Killing Eve, to asking whether science can explain why we just LOVE a sitcom like FRIENDS.We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Small Screen Science to bring more captivating science content to the education community. Together, we aim to spark curiosity and foster a love of learning in the next generation of scientists.

Our collaboration with Small Screen Science kicks off with the latest podcast series, set to launch in December. We are excited to share this podcast with all science teachers, helping them make complex scientific topics engaging and understandable for their students. This partnership represents our shared commitment to enhancing science education and making it more engaging for students across the UK.

Our commitment to the science community

At Access Education, we are dedicated to supporting the teaching and learning of science in schools. Last academic year, we ran our STEM for All Schools campaign, offering free resources to help raise GCSE science grades by at least one grade for participating schools. The campaign was a resounding success with nearly 700 schools signing up, demonstrating our commitment to driving improvement in science education and supporting students to achieve their potential.

Our highly acclaimed GCSE Science content, available through Access GCSEPod, offers comprehensive, exam-board aligned resources that help students build a deep understanding of science topics. With expertly crafted videos, quizzes, and practice exams, it's designed to boost confidence and results in GCSE science. Meet Emma, who is dedicated to supporting schools in their pursuit of digital learning excellence. 10 Years experience as a Lead Practitioner and Head of English in LEA and Trust run schools across SE London developed her passion for developing knowledge and skills rich curriculum. As a PiXL Associate working with 100’s of schools up and down the country and as an author of T&L resources for OUP, Collins and York Notes she gained a profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the education sector.

Her dedication to education led her to a pivotal role as Director of Education at Access GCSEPod, where she merged her love for education with her publishing experience to pioneer a values-driven approach to EdTech. Emma championed the cause of providing diverse and inclusive learning content that delivers a rich curriculum in a form that supports all pupils to learn succeed.

Now, at The Access Group, Emma brings her skills and experience in strategy, education, and product development to oversee the growth and delivery of innovative 'big ideas' that support the education sector. Her passion for supporting schools in their curriculum journey is deeply rooted in her extensive classroom experience.
