Posted 30/10/2020

Learning Technologies is Europe's leading showcase of organisational learning and the technology used to support learning at work. Its internationally recognised awards celebrate some of the most memorable and life-changing learning technology and eLearning worldwide.

Having made a standout submission to the ‘most innovative new learning technologies product’ category with its Gamebrain app, The Access Group are now in the running as an award finalist amongst several other industry pioneers.

Gamebrain was designed to help staff increase their effectiveness at work by encouraging them to refresh and retain specific knowledge. The development was sponsored by the Chartered Insurance Institute to help their members learn facts on policies, regulations and best practice within the sector.

It is also used by a selection of global brands to prepare staff for a wide variety of activities, including re-opening theme parks, selling cars, and safely running a Premier League football club.

Gamebrain creator, Mike Hawkyard, commented: “At Access, we believe that by combining gamification with the psychology of creating positive habits - delivered through the ever-popular medium of a quiz - we can drive significant levels of not just initial learning engagement but also re-engagement.”

He continued: “We all know practice makes perfect and that if our theory was correct, the learning value of Gamebrain would go through the roof. We’re thrilled to report that the average number of plays on any one Gamebrain session is nine – a result that totally exceeded our expectations and demonstrates just how engaged learners are with this leading-edge technology.”

The award seeks to acknowledge innovative new products in the global market which have the potential to revolutionise learning. The judges will be specifically looking for technology that:

  • Enhances the way that learning can be designed, delivered, supported, enhanced or managed
  • Brings tangible benefits to the end-users
  • Is easily differentiated from its predecessors and/or competitors

The Learning Technology Awards 2020 will be taking place on Wednesday 18th November, where all winners will be announced at a special online event.
