With the Council for Licensed Conveyancers vying for law firms to make the decision to be regulated by the CLC, many firms may be wondering ‘what’s the difference?’

About the presenters
Ryan Sparrow LLB (Hons) ACIM is a Marketing Programmes Manager at Access Legal. Having studied law at university and dreams of becoming a lawyer, Ryan eventually found his way into the legal technology sector where he has gained more than 5 years of experience working to understand the technology and compliance needs of law firms. Laura Wilkes is a Risk and Compliance Associate at Access, working within the Risk and Compliance Team at Access Legal. She has been with us since April 2017 and her fascination with compliance came from being involved in the monthly compliance checks when working at Nationwide Building Society in 2014. Laura started with the company working in the customer success team, onboarding clients with our Risk and Compliance system and creating relationships with the many clients over the 18 months she was in this role.
Her interest in compliance grew when conducting tasks for the consultancy team and when GDPR preparations began she quickly became involved in the work for the team and eventually moved over to become an associate herself.
Laura thoroughly enjoys the relationships she has gained with her clients over the years and many have commented to say that she feels like part of the firm. She has worked with a number of different specialist law firms, as well as top 100 firms and smaller independent firms. Laura has gained a solid knowledge of risk and compliance to suit firms of all sizes over the years and focuses on ensuring the advice she gives is pragmatic and thorough to ensure that firms are not restricted in the work they do.
On a personal note, Laura lives with her fiancé Ben and their two children Arthur and Poppy. She lives in a village called Helsby and in her spare time spends her days chasing the kids round at the park, drinking coffee with friends and out walking around the countryside.
