How did the Romania Graduate Software Engineering Academy prepare you for your role?
The Academy provided me with a strong foundation in both front-end and back-end development, which was invaluable as I had no prior experience in web development. The structured learning path and hands-on project helped me grasp key programming concepts and best practices. Beyond the technical skills, the academy also emphasised soft skills such as effective teamwork, clear communication, and the importance of both seeking and offering help. These experiences have been essential in preparing me for my role, allowing me to contribute confidently and collaborate efficiently with my team.
You’ve also supported our UK Graduate Academies as a project facilitator—what was that like, and how did it help you in your career development?
Being a project facilitator for the UK Graduate Academies was a truly rewarding experience. I’ve always enjoyed helping others, and this role allowed me to do so while also strengthening my communication and problem-solving skills. I find it quite natural to explain concepts clearly and to understand the challenges people face. I was also fortunate to work with great people who communicated openly, which made the experience even more fulfilling. I would love the opportunity to be a project facilitator again in the future.
What’s been your most rewarding project at Access so far?
Access Evo’s Copilot has been the most rewarding and complex project I’ve worked on so far. Integrating artificial intelligence into our projects is a significant step forward, offering a great learning experience that is both challenging and fulfilling.
How would you describe the culture at Access in three words?
Supportive, Flexible, Innovative.
What does being a woman in tech mean to you?
Being a woman in tech is empowering, it means breaking barriers and embracing opportunities that weren’t always available to past generations. It’s inspiring to be part of an evolving industry where learning and growth are encouraged. While challenges still exist, continuous learning and resilience help us overcome them, making us stronger and more confident in our abilities.
How have you seen inclusion in action at Access?
Inclusion at Access is reflected in how people are valued for their skills, attitude, and engagement rather than their personal background. It’s great to be part of an environment where everyone feels supported and has equal opportunities.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to women starting in software engineering?
Believe in yourself and stay curious, tech moves fast, and there’s always something new to explore! Don't be afraid of challenges, they may seem intimidating at first, but each one you overcome will make you stronger and more confident in your abilities.
What’s your next big goal as a software engineer?
My next big goal as a software engineer is to deepen my expertise in both front-end and back-end development while also strengthening my soft skills. I aim to take on more complex projects that push me to grow both technically and professionally. Additionally, I’d love to mentor junior developers, improve my communication and leadership skills, and contribute more to knowledge-sharing within my team.
