Our Story


We love software, and we're passionate about how technology never stays the same. We focus on success, whether it’s being in "The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For" list, or helping our 10,000 UK customers stay one step ahead of their industry and business challenges. We come to work to have fun and attack everything with a high energy and ambition, keeping the same entrepreneurial spirit we started with at the beginning. We’re always punching above our weight and strive to be better at how we work and what we do. As a challenger brand, we act different and think different.

In the beginning

In 1993 we were just a group of Computer Science nerds fresh out of Aston University. With a love of programming, we were keen to shake up the technology industry.

It started in Chris Bayne's - our current CEO - parent's dining room.

In the beginning


We’ve come a long way since then. We took Access from a start-up to having over 900 staff in 14 offices across the UK and £68.9 million in revenue. 

... but we're still the same nerds. We believe there is nothing more satisfying than solving a challenge. We delight in making our customers' lives easier by understanding and anticipating their needs, whether by solving their problem by building new software or by acquiring an existing company. We continually evolve by keeping pace with rapid technological change. We started with one product for Finance teams, and now work across multiple sectors and have over 20 different products for various departments. 

To put it simply: we knock down barriers for our customers and have fun at the same time. 

And the four guys in the photo? They all remain with The Access Group today in various senior management positions.

Our Board

Chris Bayne

As well as holding the position of CEO for Access UK & Ireland, Chris is the CEO of Access Technology Group (ATG) – the parent company. In his position, Chris contributes to ATG’s growth targets with the aid of Access’ private equity partner, TA Associates.

Chris is a product visionary and still gets involved in technical sales and product development. Because he works in close collaboration with the sales team and customers, he’s influenced by the customer demands. All of this helps him to foresee trends and brief the development team on new features and user requirements.

Mike Audis

Mike met Chris Bayne at Aston University and has sat alongside Chris since day one. Now he's responsible for Consulting & Support, which means his central focus is improving quality throughout the delivery process. Mike believes in finding the most innovative ways of enhancing service delivery to our growing client base.

With a love of code and an innovative approach to problem-solving, Mike has been involved in many elements of our software. From customising client sites, to creating our project management solution, Mike has a deep understanding of every area of the business.

Steve Blundell

Steve has 20 years’ experience in tech businesses, having held finance and management positions in both international and domestic markets. His previous roles include Chief Financial Officer at eServGlobal Limited, as well as senior positions at Oracle & MasterCard, Adobe Systems, and Siemens PLM.S.

Adam Brown
Chief Commercial Officer

Responsible for business growth organically and through acquisition, Adam has worked in the tech sector for over 15 years. Adam's focus is on initiatives that drive up Access Group's value. He also focuses on building high performing teams that deliver results.

Jon Jorgensen
Chief Sales Officer

Jon handles revenue generation at Access, including managing the new business, the account management team and existing customers. In addition to the revenue of Access, Jon is directly responsible for a team of more than 50 people.

Terry Taylor
Chief Customer Success Officer

Terry joined Access from Salesforce, where he spent four and a half years leading Customer Success. He has been a member of Salesforce EMEA and the Worldwide CSG leadership team. Formerly with Microsoft, AT&T and Citibank, Terry brings a wealth of leadership experience in fast growing and well established global technology brands.

Claire Scott
Chief People Officer

Claire heads up the HR function with responsibility to review and improve how we work together as we expand in the coming years.

Claire brings a wealth of HR experience in the tech industry, overseeing Human Resources for companies during critical periods of their strategic expansion and joins us following 4 years at Salesforce as the Vice President for Employee Success, EMEA division.  Prior to that, Claire worked for Ciena and also for Cisco for over 5 years as HR Director. 

Steve Lane
Chief Technology Officer

Steve has nearly 25 years’ experience in the software industry. He most recently worked with Achilles, where he was responsible for setting strategy and delivering SaaS platforms through global product development and technology teams. Prior to this, he held board and senior level positions with Experian Decision Analytics, Fair Isaac and Financial Objects.
